Taylor's Treasures

The shots below are for my newest client Taylor Smith of Taylor’s Treasures in Winter Park. At nine years old Taylor is my youngest client but I have found her to be a delightful and competent business person. She paints smooth stones with her own designs and protects the designs with a clear varnish. Her work has some of the usual qualities of a young persons work but there is an edge to some of the designs.

For the above shot I wanted to emphasize the raw nature of the designs. The stone with the skull is matched nicely by the owl feather. I used a single SB800 shot through a white umbrella. I also used two white cards to reflect the light into the nest. I kicked up the contrast to help the mood.

For this shot I wanted to concentrate on the color of the stones. Same image as the above but I softened the edges and brightened the colors. The feel is very different from the first image but communicates the message of Taylor’s art well.
If you are interested in purchasing some of Taylor’s Treasures you can find her work at Corners Custom Picture Framing, 1909 Aloma Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32792. Just a couple of doors down from Bank of America.
